The book, “ Money has no Smell” portrays the race issues in the American society. .  I think that it is challenging for black people to mobilize through the social hierarchy because the American social hierarchy is significantly established on the kinship. Similarly, the American society associates the notion of kinship to that of the social identity.  For example, white people are given with greater social, political, and economic benefits and advantages because of their ancestry to that of the colonial settlers. The society perceives whites as the better human race, therefore, whites are identified as the privileged elites and leaders. Furthermore, black people  face social restrictions and wage discrimination in the previous decades or so, hence, black people often receive minimal economic and social opportunities than that of other racial groups. As a result, black people often exist in the lower income or the middle class because the nation establishes several legislative rules which create disadvantages for black people.
