Calvino Goes Punk

Stumbled across this the other day. It's a song called Cities & Memory by the chicago-based punk band Castevet.


Here are the lyrics: You advance with your head turned back, what you see is behind you. Do your journeys take place only in the past? Because the past changes according to the route you follow. In each new city, you'll find again a past you did not know you had, in foreign, unpossessed places.


I guess Professor Lee wasn't lying when she said Calvino's work is widely influential! I like how this song brings up the point that living in different spaces can shape how you perceive your own past. It's an interesting thought to consider, especially coming from a group of people who make a living travelling from city to city (playing awesome music).
